Have you ever...

felt emotions so strongly - for other people - that it punches you in the gut?

They call it empathy but I think I have empathy amplified. Just by hearing a story, or watching a movie, or reading a book, I experience the emotion and I'm driven to help. A compulsion to support people, to build them up. I want to see them happy and successful, to heal and nurture them.

Let me tell you a story. A story about why I don't talk much.

Okay, so, I'm naturally reserved but besides that, ever since 8th or 9th grade, if I were to talk much about something I was excited about, it wouldn't happen.

I was to go on a trip to Europe and blabbed about it all the time. Where I was going, what we were gonna do, you name it. Then, as the time approached, something fell through and the whole thing was off. I had to explain to all those people that the trip was cancelled. All my talk was just hot air and didn't mean anything.

It happened again several years later - the details are fuzzy now - but I think it was some concert I was itching to attend.

And, just the past Christmas, I made a big deal about friends vacationing with us and, you guessed it, something came up and they couldn't go anymore.

Those are just a few examples. I learned two valuable lessons:

1. I want what I say to mean something, to have weight, to be trusted.
2. If I really really want something to happen, I keep it a secret as much as possible - at least, I don't go around advertising it. What if I were to mention it one too many times and jinx myself?

These lessons do have their downfalls though: Hiding too much of yourself. And, there are other reasons I can be tight lipped...but, those topics are best left for later exploration.

Rome, Home, and Meatballs

I thoroughly enjoyed the whirlwind trip to Italy (her grandma's antics are a hoot), the savory food, and the childhood memories. The author welcomes us into her life and we are able to experience cherished memories, fun moments, and struggles with her. I will be on the look-out for more from this author!

Have you ever...

Have you ever wanted to fall into the sky?

I have. Especially this morning. It was like a neon peach emerging from the cover of a fluffy purple blanket. Bright new promises for the day. A place of protection and safety. I imagine its like walking into a warm embrace; like walking into the open arms of God.

Workings of the mind

The inner workings of the mind is like a vast unexplored galaxy. The thoughts and emotions it creates and rationalizes are like stars and planets in the galaxy. Some are easy to see, bright and beautiful; some are faded and hidden deep within; some are black holes sucking energy from your being, and some may better left unexplored all together.

Occasionally, I may post different types of thought streams, poems, or statements. One is called "Have you ever...". Ideas for these pieces may be directly from me and some may be by the experiences of others. Perhaps you'll enjoy some of them. Feel free to comment or discuss.

Le Cirque De Magie by Marsh Moore

Le Cirque De MagieLe Cirque De Magie by Marsha A. Moore

Le Cirque De Magie offers a classic story line with a supernatural twist. The rich imagery instantly transports you to a circus of the 1920's. A fun read!
